  • Samsung Update Privacy: Personalize Using Shared Data

Today, an update was installed on my Samsung A15. This update came with something called Personalize Using Shared Data.

I’ve had this device for about 1 years now. For a smart phone, it’s pretty dumb. Every setting on this device starts with the undesired setting.

If there was a setting to share my body count with spouse, in-laws, parents, children, and neighbors, the setting would be set to on by default.

    Update Information

    • One UI Version 8.0
    • Android Version 16
    • Version: A156USQSBDZDC / A156UOYNBDZDC / A156USQSBDZDC
    • Size: 321.56 MB
    • Security Patch Level April 5, 2026

This option lets Google apps use on-device data shared by enabled apps and other sources to “improve” the user’s Android experience with things like better recommendations and suggestions.

I can’t wait to discover all the other NEW options to change to the obvious setting.

There is probably something to change in each individual app as well.

  • Privacy and Security for Samsung A15

I am currently using a Galaxy A15. Not the best choice but there are plenty of settings on this device that do a great job of creating the illusion of privacy and security. And in this post, I will point out one of these settings.

A few things you can do to make your Samsung Galaxy A15 5G a bit more private and secure.

This is by no means a complete guide to device privacy and security. That said, the best device privacy and security is to not use Samsung device.

    Device Diagnostics

Open Device Diagnostics by navigating to Settings > Security & Privacy > More Privacy Settings > Collect Diagnostics

    You will see two options:

    • Help improve your experience by sharing device performance, app and network usage data.
    • Help improve your local network experience by including your device’s location.

There is no need to share device performance, app and network usage data, or your devices location. I have these set to OFF.

Imagine a book that tracked your location… Why? This is the case with most everything on your device.

Whenever you see your device’s location, know that this is another way of saying YOUR location.

Did you change your settings? I hope so. See you in the next post!
